The Bulgarian Society for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy
is pleased to invite you to a public lecture on the topic “How to Think About Containment?” with Dr. Robert Caper.
Topic: Dr. Caper’s article, which will be presented during the public lecture, examines Bion’s concept of containment as incorporating aspects of the combined parental figure. The stages through which the analysand transitions from containment to self-containment, as a necessary condition for the successful termination of the analysis, are described in depth and detail.

Format: Online via the Zoom platform. A recording of the public lecture will be provided to all registered participants and will be active for a period of two weeks after the end of the event.

Guest Lecturer: Dr. Robert Caper is a psychoanalyst in private practice in New York. He is the author of books and articles in the field of psychoanalysis such as “Bion and Thoughts Too Deep for Words: Psychoanalysis, Suggestion, and the Language of the Unconscious” (2020), “Envy, Narcissism, and the Destructive Drive” (2007), “Psychic Reality and Interpretation of Transference” (1997), and others.
Dr. Caper has held positions on the editorial boards of the Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association and the International Journal of Psychoanalysis.
He has teaching experience in numerous countries, such as the USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Spain, France, Brazil, the United Kingdom, China, and Bulgaria.
For several years, he has been part of the Training Committee of the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training at the Society for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (SPP) in Bulgaria and supports the development of the organization.
